The link below takes you to information about “block” apprenticeship programs. You can start any time once you have an approved business to hire you in a trade. Once working, you apply for the program then attend classes in blocks of time until you are done. These classes are held at colleges across Ontario. You do get paid as an apprentice and financial aid is available for the in-school time. There is even a tool loan to get you started!

Some youth go through college programs and then try to get to an apprenticeship position following college either through an employer or a union sponsorship.
